Rolling self-portrait, baby! Didn\'t crash, either.
Italians know food.
Thinking statue in Trento - perhaps he\'s dreading riding a bike into the mountains?
Yes, I\'m a sad bastard - this is a picture of a guy washing a bike. There were about 30 of us standing there!
That little town in the valley? About 10 very fun minutes away by bike (going down) or 60 coming up.
At the top of each pass was a restraunt with food, espresso, etc.
This is a town we stayed at, from about 1000 feet up. The valley floor is at about 3300 feet.
The pros use the team cars to draft. Its against the rules, but isn\'t enforced for the \'water carriers\'.
Watching the race go by. The guy on the left was with the tour and hailed from Texas.
This guy was working!
Cute little street square on the last day.
Rider bombing through the town we stayed in. He was going maybe 35?
Trento is VERY cute. Sort of an Italian Salzburg.
More Trento. I woke up very early so went walking at about 6am.
This guy had been holding up a roof over a door for a long long time.
I loved the archtiectural details in the early morning.
Ivan Basso, surrounded by the national police who control the roads for the race.
Headed to the finish for the day. It is snowing about 3 miles up the road.
Sean Yates is one serious mofo, but nice guy.
Paolo Savoldelli just lost his 3rd place on the podium that day. Great attitude.
View from my hotel room deck!
Riding uphill. We did a whole lot of this. No picture of the downs as it was too hard to manage a camera at 45. This was taken by Tom from Texas.
Specialized has an eye-catching mascot.
Photo from another guy on the trip.
The group had a tendency to line out and start taking names. This was rolling \"easy\" for 50 miles or so to the start of the day\'s stage. \"Easy\" was about 25 mph on the flat! I\'m in the yellow vest.
Nice trees from another guy on the tour
One of the other folks on the trip was much better at slowing down to see & photograph the locals!
These roads were as cool as you can imagine.
Marco Pantani, lost patron saint of Italian (doper) bike racers. He was incredible to watch, though.
